BACOLOD CITY – Police are investigating a personal grudge as a possible motive for the killing of a resort worker in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday.
The deceased, Myra Belando, 43, of the village, was riding a motorcycle to the resort when an unidentified assailant shot her.
Belando died from four gunshot wounds to her head and body, Police Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape Jr., the city’s police chief, confirmed.
At the crime scene, officers collected four spent bullets and a .9mm caliber firearm cartridge.
“The perpetrator, possibly accompanied, may have ambushed Belando around 5:30 a.m.,” Indiape suggested, noting that the victim had been repeatedly summoned by the local barangay over community disputes and previously imprisoned for illegal firearm possession.
While authorities are considering various leads, they have withheld further details amid ongoing inquiries.
