BACOLOD City – An alleged drug personality in Sagay City, Negros Occidental was gunned down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at Barangay Poblacion II Tuesday.

Killed was Joemar Pendaliday, 36, a native of Cotabato City but temporarily resided in Poblacion II.

Police Major Antonio Benitez, city police chief, said Pendaliday was checking his vehicles – a van and a minibus – when one of the perpetrators alighted from the motorcycle, repeatedly shot him, then fled.

Both perpetrators wore face masks, jackets, and caps. He (victim) was shot at close range, Benitez said.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police recovered from the scene five cartridges of .45-caliber ammunition.

Benitez said the victim was staying in the city for almost a year and was included in their drugs list following allegations of some drug suspects who were previously arrested that he also sold drugs.

“It’s possible that the killing was drug-related considering his alleged illegal drug activity. It could be triggered by a failed illegal drug transaction,” he added.

Benitez said they already have persons of interest in the case.
