ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Employees of the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) here threatened to go on leave if they will not be paid of their salaries by next week.
The employees, which include doctors, nurses, nursing attendants, medical technologists, laboratory aid, molecular laboratory staff, and dialysis staff, have not been paid since August 2021.
“Our financial situation is already exhausting because we did not receive our monthly salary, even though we have already worked for it. We also have bills to pay, families to feed, children to provide for and daily necessities. Our savings are already used up to the point that we have to scrounge for our transportation going to the hospital,” the workers wrote RMPH OIC-chief Edmarie Tormon.
Capiz Governor Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras on Tuesday appealed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to approve the request for supplemental funds for RMPH.
In a letter to Vice Governor James Mitang Magbanua, Contreras appealed for the speedy processing and approval of the funds for the salaries of medical health workers.
The governor submitted the P47.5-million supplemental budget request to the provincial board in August 2021.
But the SP, particularly the Committee on Appropriations, has yet to act on the matter.
