After missing several major and minor tennis tournaments due to his knee surgery, tennis legend Roger Federer is expected to be back at full strength for the 2021 Australian Open.

Federer is currently in Dubai with his team for training camp and is eager to compete again in the sport where many consider him to be “The Greatest of All Time.”

The Australian Open is expected to begin in February 2021 and is just in time for Federer’s complete recovery since getting his knee operated on last June.

Previously, the Swiss Maestro underwent initial arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, a certain injury that kept on bugging him the past grand slam tournaments he joined.

Federer admitted that if the Australian Open will be staged in early or late January, his camp will be in a rush and will be in a race against time to make him fit to play.

“Every player including Roger, has made a commitment to travel to Melbourne to play,” tournament organizer Craig Tiley said.

The six-time Australian Open title-holder is making his return to grand slam tournaments since early 2020 and is aiming for his record-breaking 21st grand slam championship.

“We have been in touch with him and his team and it’s been 3 days now, he’s fit for the first time in Dubai. He’s in his normal preseason training routine,” added Tiley.
