After a disappointing loss to Novak Djokovic in the 2020 Australian Open semifinals, Roger Federer won’t be seeing action in the 2020 French Open after a knee surgery.

The 20-time grand slam champion admitted that his right knee has been bugging him the whole tournament of the Australian Open and their team has decided to take the best alternative to address the pain in Federer’s knee.

“My right knee has been bothering me for a little while. I hoped it would go away, but after an examination and discussion with my team, I decided to have arthroscopic surgery in Switzerland,” said Federer.

With hopes of winning another grand slam to add to his record-holding 20 trophies, Federer has been consistent with his semifinal appearances in the past grand slam tournaments, only to fall short against his opponents.

The Swiss Maestro will miss the Dubai Open, India Wells, Bogota, Miami, and the French Open from May 24 to June 7.

Federer will be looking to fully-heal his right knee the best way he can as he is seeking to come back 100 percent in the grand slam tourney he dominated the most, Wimbledon.
