With only one win in their debut season in the MPBL, the Sarangani Marlines are wasting no time in revamping their roster in hopes of a much-improved performance in the next season.

Their off-season move started by signing ex-PBA gunner Chico Lanete who is a renowned scorer from outside and inside.

A multi-champion as a member of the San Miguel Beermen squad, the leadership and veteran knowledge Lanete can bring to a young team like Sarangani was one of the reasons the management picked him up during free agency.

Known to be a slasher more than a shooter during his Coca-Cola days together with Asi Taulava and Alex Cabagnot, Lanete evolved his game with the changing times, later on became a reliable shooter for the teams he played after Coke.

Lanete will be expected to carry on the leadership role for the Sarangani squad.

Hoping for a better season, the said squad also tapped the services of veteran coach, John Kallos.

A former head coach of the Caloocan Supremos and the Adamson Lady Falcons, Kallos’ discipline is aimed to be instilled within the Sarangani locker room to start the winning mentality the team lacked in the ongoing Lakan Cup.

“Siyempre, aalisin natin ung mga panget na gawain dati, we will put players and coaching staff na competent, mga hardworker at merong pagmamahal sa trabaho at loyal,” said Kallos,
