BACOLOD City – Charges for two counts of murder was filed on Thursday against a 26-year-old man who admitted to killing a former barangay tanod and his 9-year-old adopted son at Barangay Vista Alegre here last Tuesday.

Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said that Kent Agsam of the said village surrendered to the police last Wednesday through the help of the barangay captain.

Agsam executed an extrajudicial statement confessing to the crime.

Bonilla said that Agsam hid at his relative’s house in Barangay Sum-ag after stabbing to death 73-year-old Aurelio Rull, a former tanod of Barangay 8 here, and the kid.

Agsam told the police that he committed the crime out of fear that he might be suspected to be a thief when he returned to Rull’s house to get the improvised tooter he left when he allegedly sniffed suspected shabu earlier that day.

“Nabugtawan siya ka biktima pagsulod niya, abi niya basi masal-an siya kawatan, gin buno niya na lang daw, pati ang bata kay kilala siya,” the station commander added.

Bonilla said that Agsam also admitted that he was high on drugs when he committed the crime.

He said that Agsam is a drug personality in the village.

Earlier, Bonilla said that Rull’s house was raided twice by police for illegal drugs, but the victim was not part of any drug lists.

Bonilla said that empty sachets were also seen at the back of the victim’s house when police investigated his residence after the stabbing incident.

Meanwhile, Bonilla said that the kid tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and his remains will be cremated.

The kid’s biological mother was already advised to undergo quarantine, after her exposure to him.

Bonilla said the child probably got infected when he was confined at a hospital here.

The kid, whose parents were neighbors of Rull, lived with the latter since he was a baby, but there was no legality on his adoption.
