The athletics team of Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) is ready for the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Track and Field Invitational Cup which kicks off in Lingayen, Pangasinan today, April 1, 2019.
The Bacolod City-based team is the defending champion of the secondary division. In this year’s edition, they will be led by reigning MVP awardee Antonette Jay Aguillon, along with graduating standouts Franz Gela Bintad and May Therese Gula.
Also seeing action in the annual national competition are sisters Hannah and Ara Delotavo, Stephane and Alexa Malate, Ysabelle Jalea, Ralph Acuña, Kenjie Okudaira, Klyde Montalbo, Jaden Rivera, Fritz Valencia, Luis Subayco, and Joshua Santander.
Aguillon was named most bemedalled athlete in the secondary division last year after snatching six gold medals in the 100m, 200m, long jump, triple jump, 4×100 relay, and 4×400 relay.
In a bid to regain the title in the elementary division, the Thunderbolts fielded Shalthea Delotavo, Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon, Jade Cordova, April Dealagdon, Jothea Ramos and Ana Hermosura.
They are accompanied by coaches Amado Juguan, Leigh Dano and Miguel Guevarra along with team manager Jose Montalbo and Bacolod Tay Tung sports coordinator and PT Emmanuel Ma.
Montalbo said they are preparing for a year already for this tournament. “The problem with this tournament is points system. The 1st place up to 8th place has respective points. Even though that is their game system, we made it in to the elementary and secondary girls as overall champion. In the secondary boys division, we also topped the track event,” he added.
