BACOLOD City – A 17-year-old girl was wounded after she was shot while trying to pacify a commotion at Purok Bantud, Barangay Pahanocoy here last Monday.

Police withheld the name of the minor-victim.

Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said the victim was asleep when she was awakened by the argument between her 18-year-old uncle and their neighbor identified as Marvin Viso.

Puerto said the victim went out of their house and tried to pacify the commotion.

But Viso, who was allegedly armed with an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, shot the victim in the body.

The victim was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here and is now stable.

Puerto said the victim’s uncle and Viso had grudges against each other.

“Nagkita-ay sila siguro kag naglab-utanay gid pero ang bata na igo pagpatunga niya,” he added.

Police recovered from the scene the casing of a 12-gauge ammunition, and a live ammunition of the same caliber.

Puerto said Viso, a fish vendor, is still at large.
