ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Various training programs of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will now be brought to the grassroots.

In partnership with the Capiz TESDA Schools Association (CAPTESA) and local government units (LGUs) here, TESDA-Capiz will launch its Capiz Training Outreach Program (Capiz TOP) today, July 18, 2019 in Pontevedra town.

TESDA Capiz Provincial Director Abdel Bakhri Hajan said that Capiz TOP which will be piloted in Pontevedra town will be offering one-day crash courses on computer literacy, cooking, baking, aircon cleaning and basic first aid.

“After this activity, we will conduct the same services to other towns in order that will be able to reach all the municipalities in Capiz,” he said.

Hajan added that through the Capiz TOP, people will understand that the government is doing its best to provide various services to the communities because “the government cares for them.”

He said that the one-day training on various short courses is expected to cater about 450 Capiceños.

The computer literacy, cooking and baking training will be conducted at the Pontevedra National High School (PNHS); aircon cleaning training for the utility and maintenance personnel of LGU Pontevedra and PNHS will be done at the LGU Pontevedra ground; while the basic first aid training will be conducted at Capiz State University-Pontevedra campus.

Hajan said that Capiz is the first to conduct the training outreach program in the entire Western Visayas.

“We will be tapping all the TESDA-accredited schools in Capiz for the succeeding training in the different municipalities,” he said, adding that there are about 23 TESDA accredited schools here.

He added that they have already clustered the various towns for the outreach training services.

“For outreach programs in Roxas City to cater about more than 1,000 residents, these will be conducted in August in the various areas like malls here, in time for the TESDA anniversary,” Hajan stressed.

He lauded the solidarity of Capiceños, particularly the unity of technical-vocational schools, support of the local government units and partnership with TESDA in the effort to bring the services to the communities.

The Capiz TOP is anchored on the theme “Hatid na Kaalaman, Gabay sa Kinabukasan.” (PIA)
