BACOLOD City – Police arrested three persons tagged in the killing of the younger brother of Valencia town Mayor Edgar Teves Jr., in Negros Oriental last Monday.

In an interview with Radyo Bandera 97.7 Sweet FM Dumaguete, Major Roger Quijano, Valencia town police chief, said a foreigner and his live-in partner were first arrested in the town several hours after the body of Don Paulo Teves, 42, of Barangay South Poblacion was found wrapped in a plastic bag and a blanket at Purok 3, Barangay Calayugan.

Teves succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.

Quijano said the couple was linked to the killing as they were reportedly last seen with the victim before the incident happened, based on the statement of a witness.

The following day, another person who was allegedly in connivance with the couple after he was sighted in the area, was also arrested.

Quijano said this person reportedly visited the couple at their house in Valencia town on the day of the incident.

A 5.56mm caliber firearm buried in soil was also recovered.

Quijano said that a case for murder is being prepared against the three suspects, who are now under police custody.

Quijano said they are looking into grudges as a possible motive in the killing since Teves and the foreigner allegedly had a previous altercation.

However, Quijano said they do not discount the possibility that there’s an accomplice who is possibly an accessory to the crime.
