Police have no lead yet on the killing of a tricycle driver afternoon of Nov 10, 2020 in Janiuay, Iloilo.

Captain Eleazar Climacosa, Janiuay police chief, said they are still looking for witnesses and evidence that could lead them to the killers of Rene Alegoro, a resident of Barangay Don. T. Lutero West, Janiuay.

Alegoro’s bullet-riddled body was found around 3:30 pm of Nov. 10 at Barangay Tuburan, a village around 5 kilometers from the town proper.

Personnel of the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) II who passed by the area saw the victim’s body slumped on his motorcycle which was parked on the roadside.

The ILECO II personnel said the victim was already unresponsive and suffered multiple gunshot injuries on his body.

They immediately called for assistance.

Members of the Janiuay First Responder brought Alegoro to Janiuay Rural Health Unit where he was declared dead on arrival.

Climacosa said they are investigating who was the last person seen with the victim before his death.

It remains unclear why Alegoro went to Tuburan since the area was not his usual route.

Climacosa said the victim’s personal belongings were intact.

Police recovered 7 empty shells and two deformed slugs of caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Climacosa claimed that victim is not on their watchlist of drug personalities.

He had also no record of misdemeanor with the local police.
