BACOLOD City – Police are still probing the motive behind the killing of a truck driver at Sitio Canubgan, Barangay Bandila, Toboso, Negros Occidental last Monday.

The victim was identified as Raymond Ulgasan, 30, of Barangay Winaswasan, Calatrava town.

Police Captain Paul Kenneth Magan, town police chief, said Ulgasan was seated atop a 6×6 truck loaded with construction materials and sacks of rice when unidentified armed men shot him.

The victim’s companion, who was driving the truck, managed to jump from the vehicle and hid at the bottom of the truck, Magan said.

Magan said Ulgasan died on the spot, while his companion was unharmed.

Police recovered from the scene two .45-caliber ammunition shells and two deformed slugs of still unidentified caliber.

Magan said they are investigating if Ulgasan was indeed the target of the perpetrators.

Police are also not discounting the possibility that it could be insurgency-related since there were also reported rebel sightings in the village.
