Two kids drowned during Easter Sunday

ROXAS CITY, Capiz—Two children drowned in separate incidents on Easter Sunday in Capiz.

A 7-year-old male child drowned while swimming in an inland resort at Barangay Amaga, Sigma town.

The victim, who was from Barangay Lacaron in Dao, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Investigation by the Sigma Municipal Police Station indicated that the family of the victim went to the inland resort for an excursion.

It was about 12:30 pm when Marjun Jano Doroteo, resort caretaker, saw the victim and his older brother swimming in the 5-foot part of the pool.

The caretaker asked the two to swim in the kiddie pool. But few minutes later, the older brother saw his brother floating in the swimming pool.

He immediately for asked assistance from the relatives and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was applied to the victim.

The Sigma Response Team responded and took the victim to Sen. Gerardo Roxas Memorial Hospital in Dao where he died.

Meanwhile, a 2-year-old girl allegedly drowned while bathing in the beach of Barangay Cabugao, Ivisan, Capiz.

The victim has injuries in the head, indicating that she may have bumped into a hard object.

The family immediately sought assistance from rescuers, but the victim did not survive.
