BACOLOD City – A couple and two relatives were arrested in separate buy-bust operations that yielded P409,200 worth of illegal drugs here and in Negros Occidental last Friday.

In Bacolod, a woman and her cousin-in-law were arrested after police seized from them 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000 at Purok Starapple 2, Barangay 27 here.

Police identified the subject as Reyn Valles, 21, of Barangay Granada here, and her cousin-in-law Kurt Zamora, 20, of Barangay 27, who are both tagged as high value individuals.

Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 5, said that it took them a few months to monitor Valles because she was pregnant.

The operation was conducted after she gave birth a few weeks ago, according to Puerto.

Puerto said that Zamora allegedly transacted with a police agent during the operation, and the two were busted while they were allegedly repacking the illegal drugs.

Police also recovered from them the P1,000 marked money, P1,070, and other drug paraphernalia.

Puerto said that an improvised handgun was also confiscated from Zamora, which is a violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law, and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

He is the first gun ban violator here, according to Puerto.

Puerto said that Valles’s husband and mother-in-law were also previously jailed for drug offenses.

Drug charges will be filed against them today, Sept. 4, the station commander said.

Meanwhile, in Silay City, a man and his live-in partner were arrested in Rizal corner Aguinaldo Street, Barangay V, for the confiscation of 10 grams of suspected shabu worth P68,000, 10 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves worth P1,200, and the P3,800 marked money.

Police identified the suspects as Rynol Brady, 30, and Mary Grace Duran, 35, both residents of Barangay Mambulac.

Brady is tagged as a street level individual, while Duran is a newly-identified individual, according to the police.
