BACOLOD City – Four persons, including two beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), were arrested for allegedly playing an illegal card game locally known as “Pusoy Orig” at Barangay Sum-ag here on Sunday.

Personnel of Police Station 9 here were conducting mobile patrol when they caught the four.

According to the police, the two SAP grantees received their allowances last Saturday.

A P6,000 SAP allowance from the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is given to a qualified beneficiary as financial aid to families affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Police recovered from the suspects a set of playing cards, and P78 bet money.

Last week, 36 beneficiaries of SAP and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were collared from various areas here and in Negros Occidental for allegedly engaging in illegal activities such as illegal gambling, illegal cockfighting, and illegal drugs.
