BACOLOD City – More or less 30 grams of suspected shabu worth P450,000 was seized from two persons at Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday.

Arrested were Jennel Bayotas, 38, of the said village; and Angelo Armigos, 34, of Barangay Lantad.

Police recovered from them six sachets of suspected shabu, and P50,740 cash.

Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, city police chief, said the suspects were caught by village watchmen outside their residences without quarantine passes.

They were reprimanded but they resisted and tried to evade arrest but they were later cornered by the authorities, he added.

The province is under the Enhanced Community Quarantine amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Only one household is allowed to go out of their residences, provided they have a quarantine pass.

Pondevilla said that the suspects allegedly tried to sell the drugs in the city.

Drug charges are being readied against both suspects who are detained at Silay City Police Station.
