BACOLOD City – A man was gunned down by two suspects inside a nipa hut at

Hacienda Robles, Barangay Guintubhan, Isabela, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

Police identified the victim as Ryan Sta. Ana, 28, of the said village.

Police Captain Ryan Villasario, town police chief, said the victim was having a drinking session with a friend when the perpetrators identified as Jimmy Sumagaysay, 52, of Bantayan, Cebu, and his nephew Arvin Sumagaysay, 30, arrived.

Villasario said that Jimmy then allegedly shot Sta. Ana at close range for still unknown cause while Arvin stood beside him witnessing the crime. Both suspects then fled leaving Sta. Ana’s friend unharmed.

Police recovered from the scene a cartridge, a fired cartridge, and a .45-caliber bullet, and a black holster.

Sta. Ana suffered two gunshot wounds in the head and left thigh. He expired at the hospital the following day (May 3, 2021), according to Villasario.

Villasario said they have no motive yet on the incident, but they are eyeing grudges as a possible angle. He did not elaborate.

“Wala man may nahambal iya pamilya kung may kaaway siya,” he added.

Villasario said murder charges will be filed against the suspects, who are still at large.
