Village officials sued over subdivision row

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Charges of grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct, and usurpation of authority were filed by the Roxas City Disaster Victims Association, Inc. (RCDVAI) against officials of Barangay San Jose here.

In a complaint filed with the office of City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, RCDVI president Roderick dela Cruz questioned the mapping operations conducted by village officials at the Angelville subdivision recently without the consent and approval of the National Housing Authority (NHA).

The respondents in the case were Punong Barangay Albert Calipayan, Kagawads Joselito Cordovero, Richard Blancaflor, Maricris Calipayan, Joselyn Dela Peña, and barangay treasurer Jose Dela Cruz.

Dela Cruz alleged that barangay officials allowed the members of the association to occupy units of the subdivision despite the lack of documents from the NHA.

Dela Cruz also denied that some of the rightful occupants either sold or rented the housing units they occupied.

RCDVAI vice president Gene Divino said the village officials failed to present documents from the NHA or the Roxas City government allowing them to conduct the mapping.

The village officials have yet to air their side.
