First loss, first knockdown, first time getting knocked out.
Those were the bitter happenings that Deontay Wilder has to deal with after his devastating loss to Tyson Fury, who snatched his WBC heavyweight belt after the victory.
It was evident in the match that Wilder was out-boxed and was out-maneuvered by the more prepared Fury, who did not engage in Wilder’s style of play and instead, chose to employ his brand of boxing that picked apart Wilder bit by bit.
However, the former WBC heavyweight champion got an unusual clamor on why he lost the fight against Fury.
Wilder said that his costume was one of the major factors in his loss, stating that the one he wore during his entrance weighed 40 pounds (18 kg).
“The simple fact is that my uniform was way too heavy for me. I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through. But I’m a warrior and people know that I’m a warrior,” Wilder said.
It was a different Wilder in the ring, as if he was moving very slow and awkward every time he does his lateral motions to avoid Fury’s punches.
With the disappointing result, Wilder said that he wants a rematch against Fury and it must be done as soon as possible.
