Woman dies, two kids hurt in motorcycle crash

A 35-year-old woman died after her motorcycle collided with another motorcycle afternoon of Nov. 12 in Culasi, Antique.

Jenerose Verano, a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Culasi, and temporarily staying at Barangay Esperanza, Culasi, was with her 11-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter when the Incident happened.

Reports indicated that Verano was passing through Barangay Caridad around 2:30 p.m. Sunday when the collision happened.

Captain Jomel Salarda, Culasi police chief, said the victim made a left turn to gas up.

But as she was crossing the opposite lane, a speeding motorcycle bumped into them.

The other motorcycle was driven by alias Jack, 16, and a certain Jordan, 14, as his backrider.

Verano, her children, and the two other minors were taken to Culasi District Hospital for treatment.

However, Verano succumbed to a head injury and fractures on her body and legs.

Her son was not admitted to the hospital while the three other minors were referred to Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose town.

Salarda noted that all motorcycle victims and the suspect were not wearing protective helmets when the incident happened.
