A 27-year-old woman drowned at a tourist site in Tubungan, Iloilo, on the afternoon of September 3.

The body of the victim, identified only as “Ann,” a resident of Barangay Buyu-an, Tigbauan, Iloilo, was found two hours after she was swept away by a strong current.

She was rushed to Pedro Trono Memorial Hospital in Guimbal but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Reports indicated that Ann was with friends at Bato Sumpit in Barangay Igtuble.

Initial findings suggest that the victim was swimming with her companions when she accidentally fell into a deep section of the river.

She was trapped between boulders, preventing her from swimming to safety.

However, police are investigating reports that Ann was not swimming at the time she was swept by the current.

Witnesses claim she was sitting on a rock when her feet slipped into the water.

A tourist guide from the group attempted to rescue her but was unsuccessful.

Despite rescue efforts, the woman could not be saved.
