Woman killed, husband hurt in crash with ambulance

BACOLOD City – A woman died while her husband was injured after they were hit by an ambulance in Barangay Sta. Teresa, Manapla, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Killed in the accident was Gina Ticar, 48, of the said village. Gina’s husband Josephio Ticar, 47, also of the said village, was hurt.

Police investigation disclosed that an ambulance of Sagay City driven by 59-year-old Jonathan Desucatan was on its way back to Sagay after transporting a patient here when it allegedly collided with the Ticars’ tricycle from behind.

The couple suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital, where Gina was declared dead on arrival.

Desucatan was taken into police custody.

Meanwhile in San Enrique town, 18 persons were injured after a van rammed into a sedan that was parked on the roadside at Barangay Tibsoc last Thursday.

According to Lieutenant Sammy Gasataya, deputy police chief of San Enrique Municipal Police Station, a van driven by Vicente Espago Jr., 23, of Barangay Taculing here, and loaded with 17 passengers was on its way here after attending a funeral when it figured in an accident.

Gasataya said the van driver reportedly overtook a tricycle it was tailing while approaching a curved part of the road.

But Espago allegedly lost control over his driven vehicle, causing him to hit a parked sedan, and rammed into a roadside store.

All of them suffered minor injuries, while the passengers in the sedan were not inside the car when it happened.

Gasataya said that all parties involved already had an initial settlement.
