WV’s best police officers, units cited

Police officers and units in Western Visayas that showed exemplary performance in the past year were feted during the 120th Police Service Anniversary.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-6’s celebration happened two months after several postponements as Iloilo City was placed under stricter community quarantine.

No less than PNP chief General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar led the awarding ceremony.

This year’s awardees were adjudged as the most outstanding personnel and best performing units all over the region.

Colonel Baluis of the Regional Comptrollership Division was chosen as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration while Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, was named Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operation.

Other awardees are Major Lailyn Sencil, Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration; Lieutenant Colonel Mark Darroca, Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Operation; Senior Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero, Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration; and Senior Master Sergeant Geoffrey Obaob, Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operation.

Other individual awardees are Corporal Hercharme Demegillo, Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration; Staff Sergeant Andie Sitto Jastia, Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operation; non-uniformed personnel (NUP) Alain Resano, Best NUP Supervisory Level); and NUP Ma. Gindy Algarne, Best NUP (Non-Supervisory Level).

For unit awards, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) was adjudged as the Best Police Provincial Office (PPO) while the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) emerged as the

Best City Police Office.

The other unit awardees are Bacolod City Police Station 2 as the Best CPO Numbered Police Stations; Roxas Component City Police Station, Best Component City Police Station; San Jose Municipal Police Station in Antique, Best Municipal Police Station; Iloilo City Mobile Force Company, Best City Mobile Force Company; 605th Maneuver Company, Best Regional Mobile Force Company; and 1st Negros Occidental Mobile Force Company, Best Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The Regional Highway Patrol Unit 6 is the Best National Operational Support Unit-Regional Category while the Regional Communications and Electronics Unit is the Best Regional Administrative Support Unit.

For the unit awards, the participants were judged according to their unit performance evaluation rating and the parameters formulated by the PRO-6 Sub-Selection Board for unit awardees.

Special awards and citations were determined by the Selection Board based on the parameters they have crafted.

As in the past, the competition is seen as an avenue to showcase the accomplishments of PRO-6 units and personnel.

It is also deemed to magnify the credibility of the PNP as a premier law enforcement agency.

Boards will be created to set the categories, criteria, parameters, guidelines and timetable for the selection process.

The PRO-6 Selection Board is headed by Brigadier General Allan Nobleza, PRO-6 deputy regional director for administration, with Colonel Martin E Defensor Jr., PRO-6 chief directorial staff, as the vice chairman and over-all supervisor.

 

COVID Response

Aside from their outstanding performance on police works, Thursday’s celebration also highlighted the good deeds of police on Covid-19 response.

Special awards were also given to individual policemen and units.

Gorero was again named as Outstanding Senior PCO while Lieutenant Renie Armenia of the Aklan PPO was Outstanding Junior PCO.

Executive Master Sergeant Syvele Limjuco of Iloilo was adjudged as the Outstanding Senior PNCO while Staff Sergeant Ma. Filomena Flores of Negros Occidental PPO is Outstanding Junior PNCO and NUP Xander Don Dioso of IPPO is named Outstanding NUP.

Meanwhile, the Oton Municipal Police Station got the award in Municipal Police Station level; the Bago City Component City for the Component City Police Station level; and Iloilo City Police Station 3 for CPO Numbered Police Station level.
