On the second leg of the only province-wide business youth convention in Aklan, Aklan Valley High School Business Youth Leaders Alliance (AVHS BYLA), an organization composed of ABM students from Aklan Valley High School and their adviser, Mr. John Marlou B. Salido, had once again made history as they organized Valiant Entrepreneurs of the Future (VENTURE) 2.0 held at Marzon Convention Center last November 16, 2019.
With only 57 Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) senior high school students to organize the big event, they had proven their skills and capabilities in event organizing as they had successfully secured the attendance of 600 delegates from all around Aklan to witness the 2nd Aklan-wide business youth convention. They were also able to seal the deal with the University of the Philippines Alumni Association: Aklan Chapter (UPAA) in terms of partnership for the organization and preparations of the event.
“Thinking Outside the Box: Venturing into the Entrepreneurial World by Going Through the Extraordinary” was the theme for this year’s VENTURE 2.
“What the event aims to happen is when the delegates go inside the convention center with their ordinary mindset of what entrepreneurship is, they will be going outside of the venue eager and excited to come up with their business ideas or even consider entrepreneurship as their way of living.” AVHS BYLA Adviser John Marlou Salido stated.
The organizers had invited well-known entrepreneurs and business people in their respective fields namely, Mr. Cedric Sazon, the President of Southwest Tours and CEO of Kalibo Cable TV Network, Mr. Christopher Ray Manguera, the Chief Marketing Officer of Globe GCash, and Ms. Charity Delmo, the owner and CEO of her own company, Ideal Visa Consultancy, to talk and inspire future Aklanon entrepreneurs. Mr. Sazon talked about Entrepreneur’s Starter Pack: The Do’s and Don’ts and the Needed Attributes of Successful Entrepreneurs, Mr. Manguera discussed the topic “Craving for Survival? Go DIGITAL!”, and Ms. Delmo inspired everybody with her topic “Lighting Up the Blue Torch: From Embers to Flames – The Journey to Becoming Big”.
“We hope that in the next five to 10 years, we will become the entrepreneurs that run not just Aklan, but the ones who will be entrepreneurs in the world’s business economy,” Overall-in-charge Trixie Mae Mantac and Jorge Aldwin Alpuerto stated in their closing speech.
Though some members of the organization are due to graduate this March 2020, the organization has no plans of disbanding and ending activities. Following the success of the two legs of VENTURE, the organization has been planning VENTURE 3.0 and how they can continue to inspire future Aklanon entrepreneurs.
AVHS BYLA would like to extend its gratitude to the sponsors and donors, to the 7 partner institutions namely LGU of Nabas, Aklan Valley High School, Melchor Memorial School, Inc., Ibajay Academy, Inc., Aklan State University New Washington Campus, Northwestern Visayan Colleges, and Conperey Integrated Learning School, and to all the institutions and people who contributed to the success of the event.
