Smiles were painted on the faces of more than a thousand policemen and their families during Friday’s donning ceremony at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6)‘s headquarters at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.

PRO-6 said that 1,439 police commissioned and non-commissioned personnel were promoted to the next higher rank all over the region.

Majority of those promoted are PNCOs, or those with rank of police executive master sergeant and below, at 1,352 or 93.95 percent.

Seventy-six are now Police Executive Master Sergeants; 68 are Police Chief Master Sergeant; 219 are Police Senior Master Sergeant; 306 are Police Master Sergeant; 184 are Police Staff Sergeant; and 499 are Police Corporal.

On the other hand, only 87, or those with rank from police lieutenants and above, were promoted.

Sixty-four of the commissioned officers got their Police Major rank; eleven are now Police Captains; and 12 donned the Police Lieutenant rank.

Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said that all promotees have complied with the minimum requirements for each rank in terms of performance evaluation, education, eligibility, mandatory schooling, body mass index and the number of years they have served in their previous rank.

Also, “they underwent stringent work behavior performance achievement test under the Neuropsychiatric Section of the PNP Health Service and have passed the interview of the promotions board of the regional headquarters,” she said.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police chief, commended the promotees and their families for another milestone in their career.

“Congratulations not only to our personnel but also to their families because I know that when your loved ones are out serving the country, you, too, have your own share of sacrifice,”

Miranda said adding, “be proud of your new rank because you have worked hard for it.”

It was gathered that the donning of rank was done simultaneously in different police regional offices all over the country.
