April 2023 Electrical Engineers Board Examinations Results

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Electrical Engineering announced that 3,339 of the 5,771 examinees nationwide, or 57.86%, passed the April 2023 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination given in seventeen (17) testing centers nationwide.

Western Visayas Region performed high, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national average. Seven (7) schools in Western Visayas out of 11, or 63.6%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level.

The Region produced 181 passers out of 308 takers, or 58.77% passing percentage. There were 206 first takers and 102 repeaters from the Region who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 66.5%. The repeaters passing percentage is 43.14%.

Likewise, the PRC Board of Electrical Engineering announced that a total of 986 out of 2,336 examinees nationwide, or 42.21%, passed the April 2023 Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination given in seventeen (17) testing centers nationwide.

Markvin Clarion Lazarito of TUP-Visayas ranked number 6 in the said examination for Master Electricians.

Western Visayas Region performed high, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national average. Five (5) schools in Western Visayas out of 8, or 62.5%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level.

The region produced 29 passers out of 62 takers, or 46.7% passing percentage. There were 28 first takers and 34 repeaters from the Region who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 53.57%. The repeaters passing percentage is 41.18%.

Republic Act No. 7920 (RA 7920), otherwise known as the New Electrical Engineering Law of 1995, provides for a more responsive and comprehensive regulation for the practice, licensing, and registration of Electrical Engineers and Electricians in the country.

According to RA 7920, applicants for Registered Electrical Engineer Examination shall be a citizen of the Philippines; at least 21 years of age; of good reputation with high moral values; has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude; and a holder of the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from a university, school, college, academy or institute duly constituted, recognized and accredited by the Philippine government.

Likewise, per RA 7920, applicants for Registered Master Electrician Examination shall be a citizen of the Philippines; at least eighteen (18) years of age; of good reputation with high moral values; and has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude.

Furthermore, an applicant for Master Electrician shall complete at least three (3) years of a five-year Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) program or a three-year course in electrical engineering technology from an engineering school recognized by the Philippine government and, in addition, has a subsequent specific record of one (1) year practice in electrical wiring and installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment; or has graduated from a two-year electrician’s course of instruction from a vocational or trade school recognized by the Philippine government and, in addition, has at least two (2) years of apprenticeship after completion of the course of instruction on electrical installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment; or has completed a one-year electrician’s course of instruction from a vocational school recognized by the Philippine government and, in addition, has at least three (3) years of apprenticeship after completion of the course of instruction on electrical installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment; or has completed a four-year high school education or its equivalent and, in addition, has subsequent specific record of at least five (5) years of apprenticeship in electric wiring, installation, operation and maintenance of utilization devices and equipment.
