A woman accused of swindling several local job hunters was arrested following an entrapment operation early evening of Dec 2, 2020 in Pavia, Iloilo.

Police arrested Marie Trexie Joguilon, 31, a resident of Barangay Ungka II, Pavia.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Iloilo field unit, together with the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and the 602nd Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RMFB-6), collared Joguilon after three complainants accused her of illegal recruitment for local employment.

The suspect allegedly posed as a secretary for a restaurant owner.

She allegedly called the complainants to process their employment papers for a restaurant that was set to open at the Iloilo Business Park.

Major Jess Baylon, CIDG-Iloilo field unit commander, said their investigation showed that the restaurant indeed exists, but Joguilon was not connected to the business.

One of the complainants alleged that Joguilon asked for money to process her medical requirements.

When the job did not materialize, they sought police assistance and later learned that the suspect is not connected to the restaurant.

Joguilon kept on sending messages asking for money while the complainants were at the CIDG office lodging their complaint.

She was later collared through an entrapment operation and would be charged for violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code.
