BACOLOD City – A construction worker was gunned down by two unidentified men in a sari-sari store at Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

Killed was Julieto Rosalem Sr., 57, of Binalbagan town, who also temporarily stayed at the said village where he worked for six years.

Corporal Aljon Bautista, investigator of Talisay City Police Station, said Rosalem was drinking beer alone in the store from 8 am until late in the afternoon, when the two perpetrators arrived for a drinking session.

Bautista said the two perpetrators sat near the victim’s table and ordered two bottles of beer, they then asked the store owner to change their P50 bill into coins.

When the store owner left to get the coins, gunshots followed.

Bautista said Rosalem succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.

Bautista said there was no altercation or confrontation that happened between them.

“Basi nag suya-ay lang bala sa tulokay, or nag-initay lang gulpi,” he added.

Police recovered from the scene an empty shell and a slug of a .45 caliber ammunition.

Bautista said Rosalem had no enemies or previous criminal record that could trigger the killing, based on the statement of his foreman.

Bautista said one of the two suspects was already identified by the police. The suspect has arrest warrants for frustrated homicide and attempted murder in Murcia town.

Both suspects, who were between 30 to 40 years old and medium built, are still at large.
