Is it because they are scared of Nietes? Or is it because of other reasons?
Promoters still won’t offer Nietes one of his “dream-matches” after vacating his WBO 115-pound title a year ago.
Nietes decided to relinquish his WBO belt in order to face fighters in the other boxing organizations, he wanted to prove himself by defeating the other boxers in different weight classes and organizations.
Is Nietes a high-risk, low-reward kind of opponent?
Undefeated for 15 years, Nietes has the resume of a renowned world champion with a 42-win, 1-loss, 5-draw record with 23 wins coming via way of knockout.
With the background and the championship resume Nietes has, why do the likes of WBA champ Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez of Nicaragua, WBC titleholder Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico, WBO king Kazuto Ioka of Japan, and former world champ Srisaket Song Rungvisai ignore Nietes’ challenge?
Nietes said that he wanted to have a showdown with the big names in boxing but not a single offer was given to him.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Nietes hopes that ALA Promotions, the one that handles his fights, will give him one of his “dream-matches”.
“Gusto ko silang Chocolatito, Juan Estrada, Rungvisai, Ioka makalaban pero walang offer,” Nietes told Powcast Sports.
