Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas announced Thursday that all Iloilo City job hires would be required to submit a clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) starting next month.
On top of that, they must also submit a negative drug test result for the “safety of everyone,” Treñas said.
The move came after a nurse working as a job hire was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation evening of March 3, 2021 at Barangay Infante, Molo, Iloilo City.
The suspect, 40-year-old Remy Bragancia of Barangay Casalsagan, Pototan, Iloilo, was stationed at the city’s quarantine facility.
Members of the Molo Police Station arrested Bragancia after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth P6,200 to a police undercover agent.
When frisked, the suspect yielded with eight more sachets of suspected shabu wrapped in a P50 bill.
Police said the suspect had been under surveillance for quite some time already.
Bragancia is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
