The Iloilo Police Provincial Office adopted additional control measures will be implemented to prevent the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Iloilo province, and to ensure a faster delivery of essential goods.

While complying with the instruction of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on the smooth delivery of essential goods, IPPO will be on look-out for drivers and the accompanying crew of transport or haulers coming from Luzon, the province of Cebu and Cebu City which are now the epicenter of COVID-19 infections in the country.

Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, IPPO director, said a sticker will be used to seal the doors of the cargo truck to ensure that the drivers and crews do not go out of the vehicle while transporting the goods within Iloilo Province.

The sticker will be checked at the border control checkpoints upon exit of the cargo truck.

The sticker contains the point of origin, destination, name of the driver and crew.

The driver and the crew will also undergo the thermal scanning before their cargo truck will be sealed.

They will also be asked to prepare for the new procedure by taking their personal necessities before crossing the border control checkpoints to Iloilo province.

The measure is also meant to speed up the delivery of goods considering that delivery trucks will be accompanied by personnel of the PNP Highway Patrol Group from border control points to the next town.

Local PNP will escort the delivery van to the next town until it reaches the point of destination.

For delivery trucks going to Iloilo City, the Iloilo City Police Office will take over the security until the delivery reaches its point of destination.

“Those who will violate this protocol by destroying the sticker will be arrested for disobedience,” Lucas said.
