A young couple was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation evening of July 1, 2020 in Molo, Iloilo City.

Kevin Salcedo, 20, a resident of Lopez Jaena, La Paz, Iloilo City and his girlfriend, Ashley Mae Villanueva, 18, of Barangay Bacay, Dumangas, Iloilo, were arrested in a buy-bust operation 9:20 p.m. Wednesday at Zone 1 in Barangay Calumpang.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 5, together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6, collared the duo after selling suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

Recovered from their possession were four sachets of suspected shabu and the P4,500 marked money.

Police Major Engilbert Banquillo, Molo police chief, said Salcedo has been monitored to have rented a room in a resort in Calumpang a few weeks back.

“He’s been switching apartment from to time, since he’s been placed on the radar of the La Paz Police Station,” Banquillo said.

Police operatives initially transacted to buy P2,500 worth of shabu but Salcedo declined claiming he would only sell at a minimum of P4,500.

Banquillo said the suspect pointed to a pusher from La Paz as his source of shabu.

Both Salcedo and Villanueva were charged on Thursday for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
