Former world boxing title contender Jonas Sultan just announced that he will be returning inside the ring after 21 months of inactivity.

The guy who took down the current World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Johnriel Casimero in a title eliminator way back in 2017 will square off with the hard-punching and fellow Filipino Danny Tampipi.

“I’m excited to fight again. I’m in good shape but I won’t underestimate him. I saw some of his fights and he is big and packs power,” said Sultan.

The explosive bout is scheduled to take place this upcoming May 29 and Sultan knows he couldn’t take the veteran Tampipi lightly, noting that ring rust might be an issue.

Sultan last fought in the ring on August 17, 2019 and wasn’t able to have a successful return last year when boxing was allowed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, Sultan is back in his training camp with head trainer Joven Jimenez and International Boxing Federation super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas to wrap up preparations for his highly-anticipated comeback.

MP (Manny Pacquiao) Promotions president Sean Gibbons added that if Sultan wins against Tampipi, he will be included in the undercard fight of Ancajas’ title defense in September in Las Vegas, Nevada.
