BACOLOD City –  A man died while his three passengers were wounded after a delivery van collided with their multicab vehicle at Crossing Kamote, Barangay Pasil, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Thursday.

Killed in the accident was Jimmy Fernandez Jr., 28; while the wounded were Jomarie Diojoy, 35; Eleazar Senilong, 18; and Kenjery Recto, 19, all residents of Talisay City.

Lieutenant Minardo Ellaga, deputy police chief of E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, said the victims were on their way home when the accident happened.

According to the delivery van driver, he allegedly avoided a sports utility vehicle (SUV) he was tailing, causing him to overlap into the opposite lane.

The delivery van driver and the multicab driven by Fernandez were believed to be speeding when the collision happened, based on the impact, Ellaga said.

Ellaga said the three wounded passengers suffered minor injuries, while the van driver and his helper, who were from Cebu, were unharmed.

Ellaga said the van driver will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.
