One killed, 4 injured in road crash

ROXAS CITY, Capiz—A tricycle driver died while his four passengers were hurt in a road collision Sunday evening in Arnaldo Boulevard here.

Carlito Capay of Brgy. Mianay lvisan, Capiz died on the spot while his four passengers were injured and are presently confined at Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital here.

Investigation by the Roxas City PNP indicated that Capay was on his way to Baybay village here when he accidentally crashed into another tricycle parked on the highway.

The impact was very strong that Capay’s tricycle turned turtle.

Capay succumbed to fatal head and body injuries while his passengers – Bambee Curatcho, Hanna Mae Curatcho, Amor Curatcho, Weeklyn Curatcho, all residents of Sitio Takilid San Roque St., Barangay Baybay – are in the hospital.

 

Dropout nabbed in drug bust 

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old school dropout was arrested by police in a drug buy-bust operation afternoon of March 1, 2020 at Brgy. Lawaan here.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) collared Sandrex Warren Salazar, 19, of Barangay Lagdungan, Tapaz, Capiz at Katipunan Village, Lawaan here.

According to Police Lieutenant Mark Anthony Garcia, PDEU team leader, 16 sachets of suspected shabu, P500 marked money, a cellphone, and P5,000 boodle or fake money were seized from Salazar.

The suspect allegedly stopped school to focus on his illegal drugs trade.

Salazar is presently detained at Roxas City police station. He was charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
