GUIMARAS—The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras successfully conducted the January 2025 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS), completing interviews with 193 sample households across the province.
The selected households came from the municipalities of Buenavista, Jordan, San Lorenzo, Nueva Valencia, and Sibunag.
In Buenavista, six households from Barangay Navalas participated.
Jordan had the highest number of respondents, with 100 households interviewed: 21 in Barangay Balcon Maravilla, 27 in Barangay Bugnay, 35 in Barangay San Miguel, and 17 in Barangay Rizal.
In San Lorenzo, 15 households from Barangay Gaban took part in the survey.
Nueva Valencia recorded 28 households, with 20 from Barangay Cabalagnan and eight from Barangay Napandog.
In Sibunag, 44 households were surveyed, including 20 in Barangay Alegria, 13 in Barangay Maabay, and 11 in Barangay San Isidro.
Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare emphasized the importance of the LFS in assessing labor market conditions in Guimaras.
“The LFS provides essential data on employment, unemployment, and underemployment, which are crucial for evidence-based policymaking and development planning,” Losare said.
The LFS is a nationwide household survey conducted by the PSA to collect demographic and socio-economic data, including labor force participation, employment status, working hours, and previous occupations of unemployed individuals.
The January 2025 LFS also included rider questions on functional difficulties, based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) of the World Health Organization (WHO).
“These questions assess the interaction between an individual’s health condition and personal and environmental factors, providing a comprehensive understanding of disability and well-being in the population,” Losare explained.
She also recognized the dedication of PSA-Guimaras field staff and the cooperation of respondents, which contributed to the survey’s successful completion.
“PSA-Guimaras remains committed to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of data collection for all our surveys, including the LFS,” she said. “We appreciate the continued support of the public and our stakeholders in this important initiative.”
The PSA assures the public that all collected data are strictly confidential and used solely for statistical purposes, as mandated by Republic Act No. 10625.
