Seven riders caught for modified mufflers, failure to wear helmet

Seven motorcycle drivers were arrested late afternoon of June 13, 2021 in Oton, Iloilo for various violations.

Jay-M Valdez, a resident of resident of Barangay Hibao-an Sur, Mandurriao, Iloilo City was apprehended for not wearing a crash helmet.

Six others were arrested for installing a modified muffler on their motorcycle – Jasson Salarda of Barangay 15, San Miguel St., San Miguel, Iloilo; JP Araquil of Barangay Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City; Jude Christian Alvariño of Villa Lorenzo, LaPaz, Iloilo City; Bryan Madrilejos of Barangay Poblacion Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; Adul Rackim Ali of Barangay San Juan, Zone 3, Molo, Iloilo City; and Livy Flora of Barangay Lanit Jaro, Iloilo City.

The patrol team of Oton Police Station led by Master Sergeant Tordesillas implemented the municipal ordinance against the use of modified muffler around 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the circumferential road in Barangay Pulo Maesta Vita, Oton.

Police made the rounds along the circumferential road following numerous complaints of noisy motorcycle riders who gathered in the area.

There were also previous complaints of motorcycle racing in the area.
