ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two persons, including a senior citizen, died while another was injured in two separate road accidents Wednesday morning in Dao and Cuartero, Capiz.
Erwin Quirao, 31, a motorcycle driver from Barangay Malapad Cogon, Sigma town died, while his backrider Arnel Gequillo, 45, and of Tapaz town was injured after their motorcycle crashed into a truck a Barangay Nasunugan, Dao.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by Dao PNP, the truck driven was by Charly Borbon, 46, of Barangay Dinginan.
Quirao suffered fatal injuries in the different parts of the body and died on the way to the hospital.
Gequillo is presently confined to a hospital here.
Borbon voluntarily surrendered to the police and is in the custody of Dao Municipal Police Station.
The truck and motorcycle are also in police custody.
Meanwhile, a grandmother died after she was accidentally sideswiped by a motorcycle while crossing the highway at Barangay Bito-on Ilaya, Cuartero Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Thelma Flagne, 74, of said barangay.
Based on the initial investigation of the Cuartero Municipal Police Station, Flagne was crossing the road when the motorcycle driven by Marvin Cortez, 36, of Brgy. Aglalana Dumarao swerved and hit the victim.
Flange was taken to the hospital but died few minutes later.
Cortez and his back rider are in police custody while waiting for the decision of the victim’s family if they will file charges.
