Two men accused of murder were arrested early morning of May 5, 2021 in San Joaquin, Iloilo.

Niño Setera, 30, was nabbed at his residence in Barangay Sirawagan around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday while Ian Rey Sandig, 32, was collared 20 minutes later at his home, also in the same village.

Lieutenant Dionisio Estacio, San Joaquin police chief, said that the two suspects have another co-accused, a Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) member from Hamtic, Antique.

But the third suspect was not at his detachment nor his home, according to the arresting team.

Setera and Sandig were charged for murder (under Art. 248 of Revised Penal Code) in Criminal Case Numbers 3601 and 3602.

Judge Nelita Jesusa Bacaling of the Regional Trial Court in Guimbal, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on April 27, 2021.

Bailbond for their temporary liberty is fixed at P200,000.

According to reports, the three suspects were involved in a stabbing incident at Siwaragan village on April 30, 2017 during the celebration of the barangay’s patronal fiesta.

The three drunk suspects planned on going to their relative’s house. On their way, they ran into two men and chased them. The suspects allegedly stabbed the victims upon catching up with them.

The two victims suffered multiple stab wounds and eventually died.

Setera and Sandig are now detained.
