Two suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate police operations in Jaro, Iloilo City on February 9, 2021.

The suspects were identified as Wilfredo Arorong, 31, of Relocation Site, Barangay San Isidro, Jaro; and Kim Jerome Gavito, 22, of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

Both police operations were jointly conducted by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit and the Iloilo City Police Station 3.

Gavito was collared around 5 p.m. Tuesday after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000 to a police undercover agent.

The transaction happened along C1 Road at Barangay Buhang, Jaro. Recovered from the suspect were four sachets of suspected shabu.

Lieutenant Colonel Reuben Siason, Jaro police chief, said they had been monitoring Gavino some two weeks ago. The suspect claimed he got his supply in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.

In going to Iloilo City, he passed through Pulupandan in Negros Occidental and disembarked in Guimaras province. Most of his clients are also from Jaro district.

Gavito claimed he was enticed into selling shabu because of the easy money. He gets P100 for every sachet that he disposes.

Meanwhile, around P60,000 worth of illegal drugs was confiscated from Arorong in another buy-bust operation 8 p.m. Tuesday at San Isidro village.

Arorong, who had been on the barangay’s list of suspected drug personalities, was arrested after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000.

He yielded 12 sachets of suspected shabu, a mobile phone, a belt bag, and a plastic canister.

Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against the suspects.
