Rotary Club of Bacolod Unveils Median Island at Laos ES

BACOLOD CITY – The Rotary Club of Bacolod inaugurated a new Median Island at Laos Elementary School in Brgy. Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

The project, described by officials as the first among many planned beautification and upgrade initiatives, aims to transform and beautify the local community.

Designed by Young Architect Clyde de Guzman, son of Past President & Architect Jose Glenn de Guzman, UAP, the Median Island features a biophilic design inspired by the theme of butterfly metamorphosis. This symbolizes the transformation and growth of Brgy. Binobohan from a “sleepy” to a “beautiful” community.

The construction was completed by local residents of Brgy. Binobohan, underlining a community-driven approach to development.

The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of notable Rotary Club members including PDG Edgar Sy, Arch. Clyde de Guzman, Hope President Michelle Medrano, Incoming President Marjorie Dino, and several past presidents and directors of the club.

Brgy. Capt. Elmer Catong, along with other barangay officials and educators from Binobohan National High School and Laos Elementary School, including Mr. Lorgy Magdalino and Ms. Amy Carbero, were also present.

The event also featured the distribution of school supplies, tokens, used clothing, and vitamins, benefiting the local schoolchildren and marking a celebration of community and continuity.

This initiative not only enhances the infrastructure but also fosters a sense of pride and ownership among the residents, contributing significantly to the local educational environment.
